AIDS WALK LOS ANGELES VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

We need over 2,100 volunteers on Sunday, October 17 to ensure a safe and fun day for all. We have opportunities for everyone, even groups: you can greet participants, total donations, cheer on walkers and so much more! Please see our volunteer opportunities below and then click here to let us know how you would like to help!

We encourage everyone who participates in AIDS Walk Los Angeles to raise funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Therefore, we credit all of our volunteers with walking 10 kilometers. To assist you with your fundraising efforts, we will create a personal fundraising Web page just for you when you register as a 2010 AIDS Walk Volunteer. You can utilize your personal Web page to send fundraising e-mails to friends and family, track your donations, and get AIDS Walk volunteer information. Fundraising is certainly not a requirement, but we encourage you to give it a try - if you have questions about online fundraising or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Volunteer Coordinator at awlavol@aidswalk.net or by phone at (213) 201-WALK (9255).

PHONE BANKING
Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join us at the AIDS Walk office and put your shining personality and great phone skills to use as we call past Star Walkers and Volunteers to encourage them to participate again in AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

DAYTIME ACTIVITIES
Monday – Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
There are always projects with which we need assistance and we would love your help during the day-time hours. Help us with general office duties and mailings for more than 30,000 AIDS Walk Los Angeles participants.

“COCKTAIL HOUR”
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6: p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
If you’re available to volunteer in the evenings, join us for "Cocktail Hour!" Help us with mailings for more than 30,000 AIDS Walk Los Angeles participants, assemble Walker Kits and team materials, and assist with special projects in preparation for AIDS Walk Los Angeles 2010. Volunteering with AIDS Walk is a wonderful alternative to going out for cocktails after work - bring your friends and co-workers with you! While we don't provide real cocktails, we do provide dinner for our volunteers each night.

All activities take place on Sunday, October 17 unless otherwise noted.

SIGN-IN
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 6:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 16 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Be the first face participants see the morning of AIDS Walk Los Angeles! Sign-In Volunteers check in walkers and collect the funds they have raised. You must be friendly, outgoing, detail-oriented,have a valid photo ID and must be at least 16 years old. Click here to register as a Sign-In Volunteer!

MONITORS
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 6:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Monitor Volunteers get a front-row seat to the walk, so they're able to cheer the walkers on as they go by! Monitors direct the flow of participant traffic, and help keep walkers safe at key intersections around the route. They must be outgoing, energetic, and skilled communicators in order to guide the walkers safely. Monitor Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Click here to register as a Monitor Volunteer!

CHECKPOINTS
AIDS Walk Shift: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Checkpoint Volunteers help set up, manage and clean up walker Checkpoints along the route. Distribute snacks and beverages to our dedicated walkers! Help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups. Click here to register as a Checkpoint Volunteer!

CHECKPOINT 4
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
NO ORIENTATION
Checkpoint 4 Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean up our walker Checkpoint at the start and finish lines. Distribute snacks and beverages to our dedicated walkers! DELINEATORS
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.
NO ORIENTATION
Help us assemble and “delineate” the AIDS Walk Los Angeles route before the Walk starts and then help break down the route once walkers have completed AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Delineator Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. Be prepared to get a little dirty. Click here to register as a Delineator Volunteer!

HOOPLAH / STRIKE CREW
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
NO ORIENTATION
Be the first to welcome back the walkers! Help us celebrate at the finish line by handing out seals of completion and cheering as the walkers' return from the route. Then stick around to help us make sure West Hollywood Park is spotlessly beautiful. Click here to register as a Hooplah/Strike Crew Volunteer!

INFORMATION ARMY
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 7 a.m. — 1:30 p.m.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Help direct 30,000 AIDS Walk participants through West Hollywood! As a member of this elite group of volunteers, you will help walkers turn in funds, find their team meeting stations, and locate other areas around the AIDS Walk venue. You will be the AIDS Walk expert that our walkers will seek out on the morning of the event! Click here to register as an Information Army Volunteer!

RECYCLING
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 8:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Green is the new black! Help us make AIDS Walk Los Angeles the most eco-friendly event it can be while also preserving the beauty of our city streets and parks. The recycling team will help direct walkers to recycling locations along the AIDS Walk route, sort recyclables, and ensure that no recyclables make it into a landfill. TEAMS
AIDS WALK SHIFT: 6:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
MANDATORY ORIENTATION: Saturday, October 16 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteer in the heart of the action, where hundreds of teams meet on AIDS Walk day. A team is any group of two or more walkers that raise money and walk together at AIDS Walk Los Angeles. In the Teams Meeting Area, volunteers assist with setting up Meeting Stations and guiding walkers to their designated meeting spots, where they gear up for the walk and their show team spirit! TOTALING I

PHOTOGRAPHY
Sunday, October 17 from 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is currently looking for shutterbugs to help capture the moments that make the AIDS Walk so special! Photography Volunteers are asked to have professional training and experience with photography and be able to supply their own equipment on the day of the event. This volunteer position is great for individuals or groups who are currently studying photography or want to use their photographic talents at the AIDS Walk! STRIKE CREW–CLEAN UP
