Dear Friends and Family,

This year is the 26th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the world’s first AIDS Walk, and California’s largest AIDS fundraising event. This is my [#] year participating, and the fight is not over. Please join me Sunday, October 16, in making a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Did you know that...?

• every 9 1/2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is infected with HIV.
• half of those infected with HIV are under the age of 25.
• 25% of those infected with HIV do not know it.
• Los Angeles County AIDS cases account for approximately 35% of all cases in California.

Despite advancements made in the treatment and prevention of HIV, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the overall rate of infection continues to rise.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is a 10-kilometer walkathon that benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), in addition to over two dozen other local AIDS service organizations. Over the past 25 years, AIDS Walk

Los Angeles has provided for life-sustaining food, medical and dental care, safe housing, and much more for thousands of Angelenos living with HIV/AIDS. The event has also funded L.A. County’s largest network of effective and unbiased HIV prevention programs, saving countless lives.

Your donation makes it possible to continue to provide these services that are essential to combat this terrible disease. Picture how $10 will bring one bag of groceries for distribution at one of four Necessities of Life Program food pantries. Moreover, $20 will give one hour of prevention counseling for high risk youth, and $100 will provide one month of mental heath support group activity for one woman.
