We need over 2,500 volunteers on Sunday, May 20 to ensure a safe and fun day for all at AIDS Walk New York! We have opportunities for everyone, even groups: you can greet participants, total donations, cheer on walkers, and so much more! CHECKPOINTS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Report directly to your assigned Checkpoint. Specific instructions and location assignments will be given at the orientation.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 19 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.  Meet in Central Park near the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
Our Checkpoint Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean up our walker checkpoints along the route. Distribute snacks and beverages to our dedicated walkers! Help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups. Click here to register as a Checkpoint Volunteer!

CROWD CONTROL
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Meet in Central Park at Volunteer Sign-In, located at the Naumberg Bandshell.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Meet in Central Park near the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
Welcome walkers as they enter Central Park and be part of the excitement at the start and finish line of AIDS Walk New York! Energetic and outgoing personalities are a must! Crowd Control Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Click here to register as a Crowd Control Volunteer!

VENUE GREEN TEAM
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 6:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Meet in Central Park at Volunteer Sign-In, located at the Naumberg Bandshell.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 15 from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.  Meet in Central Park near the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
Green is the new black! Help us make AIDS Walk New York the most eco-friendly event it can be while also preserving the beauty of Central Park. The Green Team will help direct walkers to recycling locations in Central Park, sort recyclables, and ensure that no recyclables make it into a landfill. ROUTE GREEN TEAM
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Meet at your assigned Checkpoint.

MONITORS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 6:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Meet at Central Park West and 72nd Street.
Mandatory Orientation: Tuesday, May 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. LOCATION TBD OR Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at LOCATION TBD.
Monitor Volunteers get a front-row seat to the Walk, so they're also able to cheer the walkers on and see all of the participants as they go by! Monitors direct the flow of participant traffic, and help keep walkers safe at key intersections around the Walk route. They must be outgoing, energetic, and good communicators in order to guide the walkers safely. Monitor Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Click here to register as a Monitor Volunteer!

STRIKE CREW
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Meet at the Lifeguard Chair.
No Orientation
Join our Strike Crew Team! Help us to clean up and break down the venue in Central Park. This volunteer position is great for groups and all ages are welcome! Strike Crew Volunteers do not have an orientation. Click here to register as a Strike Crew Volunteer!

TEAMS

Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at Rumsey Field.
Assist us in setting up our Teams Area! A team is any group of 2 or more walkers - co-workers, students, religious/civic organization members, friends and/or family members - that raise money and walk together at AIDS Walk New York. Teams Volunteers help us welcome these dedicated AIDS Walk participants as they join us in Central Park. Teams Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. DELINEATORS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Meet at Central Park West and 72nd Street.
No Orientation
Help us assemble and “delineate” the AIDS Walk New York route before the Walk starts and break down the route once walkers have completed AIDS Walk New York. Delineator Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. Be prepared to get a little dirty! Delineator Volunteers do not have an orientation. HOOPLAH/STRIKE CREW
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Meet at Checkpoint 4, located at the Naumberg Bandshell, just northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation
Be the first to welcome back the walkers! Help us celebrate at the finish line by handing out seals of completion and cheering as the walkers return from the route. INFORMATION ARMY

Help direct 45,000 AIDS Walk participants through Central Park! As a member of this elite group of volunteers, you will provide assistance to help walkers turn in funds, find their team meeting stations, and find other areas in Central Park. You will be the AIDS Walk expert that our walkers will seek out on the morning of the event! Click here to register as an Information Army Volunteer!

SECURITY

Be the first face participants see the morning of AIDS Walk New York! Sign-In Volunteers check in walkers and collect the funds they have raised. TOTALING TENT
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Meet at Rumsey Field.
No Orientation
Help us as we process donations and total the funds turned in by our participants on the day of AIDS Walk New York. Totaling Tent Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have some experience with a 10-key calculator. Totaling Tent Volunteers do not have an orientation. SATURDAY SET-UP
AIDS Walk Shift: Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Meet at Rumsey Field.
We need a lot of help on Saturday, May 14 preparing for the big event! Come help up set up the Teams area, assemble the Sign-In area, and assist with the placement of posters. “COCKTAIL HOUR”
Monday – Wednesday: 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
If you’re available to volunteer in the evenings, join us for “Cocktail Hour”, a fabulous alternative to Happy Hour after work! Help us with mailings for more than 45,000 AIDS Walk New York participants, assemble Walker Kits and Team Materials, and assist with special projects in preparation for AIDS Walk New York 2012.  Dinner will be served but, sorry- no cocktails!

“PHONEBANKING”
Monday – Wednesday: 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Join AIDS Walk New York for Phonebanking! Help us recruit the remaining 1,500 Day of Event volunteers needed to make the AIDS Walk come to life.

We encourage everyone who participates in AIDS Walk New York to raise funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Therefore, we credit all of our volunteers with walking 10 kilometers. To assist you with your fundraising efforts, we will create a personal fundraising Web page just for you when you register as a 2012 AIDS Walk Volunteer. You can utilize your personal Web page to send fundraising e-mails to friends and family, track your donations, and get AIDS Walk Volunteer information. Fundraising is certainly not a requirement, but we encourage you to give it a try – if you have questions about online fundraising or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at 212.807.9255 (WALK).
