Terry Chasteen: the First Star Walker of 2012!

A big congratulations to Terry, the first participant of this year’s AIDS Walk San Francisco to reach the $1,000 fundraising mark and attain Star Walker status!

A Senior Executive Assistant at Ernst & Young, Terry reminds us that “it’s not just the people that are HIV-positive today. It’s the future that we need to worry about, too.”

How did he raise the money? First, he sent internal emails to all of his friends and coworkers within his company. He followed up by sending a personal email to his closest friends, and calling for support through his Facebook page and personal website.

Terry is also fortunate enough to have the support of his partner, Jim, who helps by reaching out to his own network of friends, family, and colleagues for donations.

When asked why he walks, Terry says, “It’s simple…I have several really close friends that are positive and I knock on wood that they are still with us tomorrow.”
