Team Deems

Robyn Butler has been a part of the AIDS Walk movement for almost 20 years. She walks in memory of her brother Leotis, who passed away from AIDS complications in 1995. Today, she still wears an AIDS Walk cap from the first year that she walked.

In recent years she has been walking in AIDS Walk San Francisco with family and friends, including her close friend Deems Padgett (pictured here with Robyn), who passed away in March of this year.

In addition to committing to raise at least $1000 this year as a Star Walker™ (an accomplishment she has reached every year she has participated in AIDS Walk San Francisco), Robyn decided to form a team in honor of her lost friend – Team Deems.

When asked why she created Team Deems, Robyn says, “Deems and I have been colleagues and friends since 1998.  He has always been supportive…and in the last few years walked with me and my family...[When he passed away], his family said, instead of flowers, to donate to the charity of my choice.   I thought it was befitting to collect this way, in his honor.”
